How to Approach Legal Services Institutions (LSIs) for free legal aid?

Women facing legal issues can seek free legal assistance through the Legal Services Authorities at different levels. Here’s how you can approach them:

    1. Visit the nearest Legal Services Authority

You can approach any of the following based on your location:

    • Taluk Legal Services Committee (TLSC) in your locality
    • District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the district court
    • State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) at the state level

Simply walk in and seek support for your legal issue. Panel Lawyers or Paralegal volunteers will help you with the process.

    2. Apply Online

You can also apply for free legal aid online through the official portal: CLICK HERE to fill out the online application form.

    3. Seek Assistance through NALSA Helpline

📞 Dial 15100 – The Toll-free National Legal Aid Helpline. Speak with a Panel Lawyer who will guide you on how to proceed.

    4. Visit a Legal Aid Clinic

Legal Aid Clinics are located in many villages, colleges, jails, and NGOs. These clinics are supported by trained Paralegal volunteers and Panel Advocates who can:

    • Assist in filling legal aid applications
    • Connect you with an appropriate lawyer
    • Explain your rights and legal options

    5. Track Your Application

Once you apply (online or offline), you will receive a Diary Number. This allows you to:

    • Track the progress of your application
    • Follow up with the relevant legal services authority
